Somewhat more D-Day related, an Automatic Gun-Laying Turret

This was a radar guidance system employed in the rear turret position of the Lancaster to operate at night. The one in the pic is a Rose turret, (shown below as well), but Nash & Thomson (Frazer Nash) was more common. Boulton Paul versions also existed.

It used the "Village Inn" radar system to detect direction/overall position, correct for range, and present a reticule on a screen for the gunner to operate.
